GSPC 2018 PERFORMERS

Global Ektara (Saturday Oct 20)

Brings 7 star performers on a single stage for the first time in America. Led by Bonnie Chakraborty of Krosswindz/CokeStudio/A.R.Rehman fame, the band features famed folk singers Kartik Das Baul & Usri Banerjee, Keshav Iyengar on Bass, Cactus ace guitarist Ratul Ray, Sudipto Paul on keyboards, and drummer par excellence – Gaboo of Lakkhichhara. What started as a urban folk revolution in the 70’s with Gautam Chattopadhyay’s Mohiner Ghoraguli, Bonnie has pioneered and refined for the new generation with this musical extravaganza. Don’t miss “Prithibita Naki”…

Somlata and the Aces Band (Sunday Oct 21)

Hearthrob of this generation, Somlata Acharya needs no introduction. One of the most versatile contemporary singers, Somlata’s repertoire ranges from Classical to Sufi, Folk to Fusion, Adhunik and Rabindrasangeet. She has sung in over 30 Bengali movies: Cross-Connection, Ranjana Ami Ar Asbona, Bedroom, Mach Mishti & More, to name a few… more recently Ghare O Baire (2017), Uma (2018). Mark the stark contrast in the styles/genres in the 2 links below, semi-classical & techno at a college fest.
